As Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay prepares for another season by the Mediterranean, we’re delighted to welcome Alejandro López Martín, our new Commercial Director. With a deep understanding of luxury hospitality and a passion for Ibiza’s distinctive spirit, Alejandro shares his vision of the island as a world-class destination — where wellness, gastronomy, and authentic experiences come together effortlessly.

How would your colleagues describe you in 3 words?

Collaborative, curious, and positive. I like to bring good energy to every team and keep learning from everyone around me.

What has been your career highlight to date?

I’ve had the chance to work in different destinations, with diverse teams and properties, so it’s difficult to choose just one highlight. My first experience as Director of Sales in Mallorca was especially meaningful, a time of personal and professional growth. I built a great team, learned a lot, and achieved results I still feel proud of today.

That experience also showed me how a clear vision and teamwork can completely transform a property, and it shaped the way I approach every project since.

What drew you to Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay?

For me, the decision was clear because it brought together three things I value: the destination, the brand, and the people. Ibiza is an incredible island, vibrant, creative, and full of energy. Nobu is a strong, aspirational brand with a unique lifestyle identity. And when I met the team, I immediately felt it was a human, professional, and welcoming environment. It’s one of the top hotels in the Mediterranean and a true benchmark in Ibiza, so joining felt like the perfect next step.

What do you hope to bring to the Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay team?

I want to bring good energy, stability, and a mindset of continuous improvement, helping the team stay motivated, think strategically, and grow together. My goal is to build a solid team that proactively looks for ways to get better every day, questions things constructively, and feels empowered to take initiative.

Nobu is a global icon of high gastronomy — how do you see its culinary heritage influencing the way guests experience Ibiza Bay?

Nobu started with gastronomy and became an iconic brand that represents a way of life. For me, Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay is about elevated experiences with soul, and that’s exactly what our guests expect: exceptional food, a vibrant atmosphere, great music, and the relaxed sophistication that defines Ibiza Bay.

Ibiza is a truly unique destination. In your view, what makes it stand out in the global luxury travel landscape?

Ibiza stands out for its natural beauty, easy access from across Europe, sense of security, and free spirit. It’s a place where creativity, wellness, and celebration coexist. The island also offers an outstanding selection of hotels, restaurants, and experiences, all surrounded by Mediterranean light and a unique cultural energy that makes it timeless.

How do you see AI and digital innovation transforming the way we reach and connect with guests in 2026?

For me, technology is the present. AI and innovation need to be part of our DNA so we can keep improving our procedures, engage better with our guests, and make smarter decisions. With the right tools, we can truly personalize every step of the guest journey, making each interaction feel genuine and relevant rather than mass communication. The goal is to use technology to create better experiences, higher satisfaction, and stronger emotional connection.

What do you think will be your main challenge leading the Commercial Team in such a competitive and seasonal market?

One of the main challenges will be maintaining team stability despite seasonality and finding the right profiles. Ibiza is a demanding market with limited availability of skilled professionals, but that also pushes us to be creative in how we attract and develop talent.

What skills do you value most in your team?

Collaboration, respect, openness to new ideas, proactivity, and initiative. I value people who work well with others, share their knowledge, and stay curious and adaptable, especially in a dynamic market like Ibiza.

Wellness travel continues to grow — how do you envision positioning Ibiza Bay as a holistic wellness destination within luxury Mediterranean hospitality?

Wellness travel will continue to grow as people become more conscious about taking care of themselves. Ibiza, with its natural beauty and special energy, is the perfect destination for it. Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay already offers excellent wellness experiences and packages, and my vision is to keep innovating and creating new collaborations with renowned wellness experts and brands. Combined with our location, views, gastronomy, and service, I believe we can strengthen our position as a true leader in Mediterranean wellness hospitality.

Which markets and audiences do you see as the biggest opportunities for Nobu Hotel Ibiza Bay next year?

The U.S. market keeps growing, with increasing interest in the Balearics and very strong numbers for Ibiza Bay. The U.K. remains one of our most important markets, and I’m also curious to explore more opportunities from Canada, the Middle East, and Latin America, where awareness of Ibiza as a luxury destination continues to rise.

Beyond geography, I also see an opportunity to connect more deeply with travelers who value authenticity and lifestyle, that’s where Ibiza Bay truly stands out.

With Ibiza attracting more retreats, celebrations, and incentive travel — how do you plan to elevate our groups and events strategy to stand out?

By offering crafted, tailor-made experiences that elevate each program, whether it’s a retreat, celebration, or incentive. We want our guests to truly connect with the destination, feel inspired by the atmosphere, and leave with lasting memories created through unique collaborations, exceptional service, and Nobu’s distinctive style.
